Fall 2025 Edit
These are a few of my fav-or-ite things
First of all, how is it already Fall? I’m not complaining because this is my season but it has really creeped up out of nowhere.
Here’s the hot take (that no one asked for). The Pumpkin Spice trend is shit. Yeah, I said it! We don’t need the lattes and the toxic candles. We can agree to disagree but I strongly feel like the Pumpkin Spice Trend cheapens fall. I’ve been putting cinnamon in my coffee since 2004. Trust me, it gives you the same cozy feeling as the chemically infused Starbucks latte.
Fall is rich of color, full of nostalgia, and it’s the beginning of the Holiday Season. Fall in TN is unreal! I’ve lived all over the US and I have never experienced Fall like I do here.
So what do we think of when we think of fall? Soup, boots, leather jackets, soft skin, soft sweaters, cozy gatherings. It’s the end of the summer and the calm before the chaos of the Holidays. I love this time of year - so much. Below is my favorite soup recipe and a list of some of my favorite items for this time of year.
Let’s talk about dry brushing. I could write an entire substack about the lymphatic system and how overlooked it is but for right now I will say this - dry brushing is one of the most important things I do on a daily basis. We are overloaded with environmental toxins so kickstarting your detox pathways is super important. It is incredibly beneficial for your skin as well as your entire lymphatic system. If you have questions, here is a great guide explaining the process, the benefits and the do’s and dont’s Dry Brushing Guide . It’s really important that you open up your “termini” before you dry brush by doing “the big 6”. I know, I know, I’m speaking another language but simply googling “how to do The Big 6” will answer most questions. Here is a tutorial as well The Big 6 tutorial . Again, doing this step in the morning is a non-negotiable for me. My feet hit the floor, I do THE BIG 6 and I dry brush - the rest of my day might be a disorganized mess but hey, my lymph is moving and my skin is so soft. Here is a link to my favorite dry brush Goop Dry Brush. Follow with the Necessaire Body Scrub (in the shower), Necessaire Vit C Radiance Serum or the Necessaire Barrier Complex Body Cream , and the Costa Brazil Firming Body Oil on the spots that feel extra dry. Your lymph is moving and Baby Soft Skin Mode is activated!
I have really been enjoying the Dr. Diamond Metacine. My only complaint is that - it’s super expensive. A great way to try the line without a huge financial commitment is the Dr. Diamond Discovery Set . Your skin will be GLOWING!
Let’s talk retinol. What’s the general consensus here? Is it a non negotiable for you? Personally my skin has a hard time with it BUT I found an affordable retinol and wow I love how my skin is handling it. Naturium Retinaldehyde Serum. My advice, unless you are already using a retinol product, is to start with the .05 formula and work your way up.
Brows - I was recently sent a discount code (BROOKE20) for this brow setting serum so you know I had to try it myself. Game changer! Here in BB’s Skin Lab (my bathroom) we love a two in one product. This has all of the nutrients of a serum with added setting power. My brows look healthy AND I don’t have any run aways ;). Privet Brow Serum
My friend and I went to Sephora a few months ago and she said I absolutely had to try this Color WOW Dream Coat and yeah WOWWWW. My hair is fine and goes pretty limp shortly after I blow it out but not anymore! This is one of those magic products if you heat style your hair. Packaging, not my favorite but we won’t judge a book by its cover bc this is my ideal pre-blow dry product. My hair has shine, hold, and movement all at the same time. I’m also loving the Aesop Violet Leaf Hair Balm for air-dry style or slick back bun without any sticky residue. Ew. Also been loving the Agent Nateur Holi Growth Leave In Scalp Treatment. As we age so does our scalp. This helps keep the hairline intact and I’ve even been noticing some new growth around my temples. I’m a HUGE fan of pretty much every product in this line!
Last up, the Victoria Beckham Foundation Drops with TFC8. I’ve gotta say, Victoria Beckham makes some of the highest quality cosmetics on the market. TFC8 is a blend of natural amino acids, high-grade vitamins, and synthesized molecules that work to support the skin’s natural renewal and rejuvenation processes. By guiding key nutrients to the cells, TFC8 aims to retrain skin to perform its natural functions, leading to firmer, healthier-looking skin. I love this technology. Wearing foundation has never felt so good. The sheer drops provide the perfect coverage while still looking glowy and natural.
Lastly SOUP. I had someone recently tell me that soup was a stupid delivery system for a meal. LOL should I expose their identity? Soup is IT! Not only is it a fun and meditative process to cook it, it’s just good food for your soul. I’m a big fan of all soups but here is my fave. I have shared this recipe with every single friend I have and collectively it’s my number one recipe. Tried and True White Bean, Kale, and Sausage Soup. Here are my edits :
I use chicken sausage vs pork sausage (too greasy)
I use 2-3 leeks vs an onion. If you have a shallot add that with the leeks.
My friend Jessie Baylin is an amazing chef. Her parm rind soup trick is a game changer if you want your soup to have a richer flavor and a creamier texture. Add a parm rind and a few bay leaves and let the pot simmer on low heat.
Don’t forget the bread. Get a fresh loaf of sourdough at your local bakery. I recommend Dozen and Mama Bread if you live in Nashville. Slice and toast! Maybe even roast some garlic and spread it on top. If you want to make croutons that is a great way to finish the soup and add some more texture and crunch.
A little drizzle of truffle oil in your bowl goes a long way. If you’re a truffle hater (a lot of my friends are) skip this tip. Pretend I didn’t even suggest it ;)
ENJOY and let me know what you think!
